Bobby Lashley, born Franklin Roberto Lashley on July 16, 1976, in Junction City, Kansas, grew up in a military family. Lashley started his journey in amateur wrestling during middle school at Fort Riley, Kansas, where he initially joined the sportin seventh grade as an alternative to football. During his time there, he excelled in amateur wrestling, winning the NAIA National Wrestling Championship three years in a row (1996-1998).
